Betty Jo Worley, lifelong resident of Owasso, Oklahoma, was born December 5, 1933, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Thomas William and Ilda Gladys (Carruthers) Kelley. She died Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Owasso at the age of 80 years. Betty was reared in Tulsa and attended Mingo Schools in her early years. She completed her secondary education in Owasso and graduated with the OwassoHigh School Class of 1952. Her fondest childhood memories included participating in rodeos, 4-H activities, and watching her brothers’ trick ride. She was married September 7, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Carl Worley. She worked as a teacher’s aide for Mingo School in Tulsa, a sales clerk with Froug’s and a cashier with Sky Chef. She prided herself in raising her children in a Christian home. She was a longtime faithful servant and steward of First Baptist Church in Owasso where she served as a teacher, department director, and various other committees and church activities. Betty enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as canning, gardening, and working outdoors. She was also instrumental in establishing Worley’s Nursery in Owasso.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Monte Keith Worley, brothers, Bery Larrabee, Jack Larrabee, Bill Kelley, and Bob Kelley.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 2, 2014, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 3, 2014, at First Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Dale Blackwood officiating. Honoring Betty as casket bearers will be her grandsons. Committal services and interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulsa. The family requestsmemorial contributions be made to Evergreen Hospice, 9902 East 43rd Street, #A, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74146, or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society-Oklahoma Chapter, 500 North Broadway Avenue, #250, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 73102. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
