Davis J SmithDavis J. Smith was born on June 10, 1939, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Ora Davis Smith and ad Essie Kay (Ryles) Smith. He died on Monday, February 14, 2022, at his home in Collinsville, Oklahoma at the age of 82 years. Davis was raised and educated in Tulsa and graduated with the East Central High School Class of 1957. He was married on November 16, 1963, in Pryor, Oklahoma to Lois Rose (Baker) Smith. Davis spent most of his working life as a heavy equipment operator and pipeliner with the International Union of Operating Engineers in Tulsa for 60 years. He was a proud member of the Oklahoma Palomino Exhibitors Association. and also a founder of “Go for Gold,” a stallion auction and futurity. In his spare time, Davis enjoyed a variety of past times such as caring for horses, attending and being involved in rodeos, and welding and working in his shop.
