E HarrisElgin Weaver Harris was born August 24, 1934, in Chester, Oklahoma, to David Cole and Ivory Beck Harris. He died Sunday, April 24, 2017, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years. Elgin completed his secondary education in Pawhuska, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Pawhuska High School Class of 1953. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Air Force. He was married May 11, 1955, in Shidler, Oklahoma, to Colene Clifford. They made the move to Collinsville, Oklahoma, overt Thanksgiving weekend in 1975. Elgin spent most of his working life with as an avionics technician with the 138th Air National Guard in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Elgin enjoyed a variety of pastimes having coached his son from little league baseball through high school and American Legion. He especially enjoyed being outdoors whether gardening, fishing, camping, or golfing. He was well known for his work with growing and grafting daylilies and at one time had over 10,000. He also grew pecan trees, roses, and other plants. Elgin also loved to spent time with his dogs. Those he leaves behind who hold cherished memories include:

Three grandchildren; Nate Harris and his wife Sara, of Conroe, Texas, Chad Harris, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Amy Harris, of Glenpool, Oklahoma
Three great grandchildren; Colson Harris, Isabelle Harris, and Cambryn Harris
Sister; Colene Gay, of Yukon, Oklahoma
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Hazel Hood, Hallie Mae DeVore, and Wanda Kyler, and four brothers, Frank Harris, Hughlet Harris, Babe Harris, and Glen Harris.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 26, 2017, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Chuck Horton officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 East 81st Street North, Suite #3000, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74137. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
