With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Gregory “Greg” Scott Berry, 47, a loving father, son, and friend, who left this world far too soon due to injuries sustained from a motorcycle accident.
Born and raised in Owasso, Oklahoma, Greg was a wild-hearted kid from the very start-fearless, full of energy, and always the first to climb higher, ride faster, or jump further. His childhood was a whirlwind of scraped knees, laughter, and stories that turned into legends-each one a testament to his thrill-seeking nature and unbreakable spirit.
That bold spirit stayed with Greg throughout his life. He worked in the roofing business, building a successful career doing what he loved-with people he loved -and talking about it with anyone who would listen. Greg took pride in every project and believed in doing things the right way and always giving his best.
He also had a deep love for fitness, making working out a daily part of his routine-especially after moving to Oklahoma City in recent years. Whether lifting weights, eating healthy, or encouraging others to stay active, Greg tackled his health like everything else in life: head-on and all-in, although he never turned down a good cheat day, usually involving gas station food or whatever else he could get his hands on.
Outside of work and the gym, Greg loved golfing with his buddies, hitting the driving range, riding his motorcycle, and, of course, napping in his recliner. He was strong in his faith and his love for God, attending church and Bible study every Sunday with his girlfriend, Jeri. His faith was a steady, guiding force in his life.
Greg was the kind of person you could call in the middle of the night without hesitation. Whether you needed help moving, changing a tire, or just someone to talk to, he showed up-without question. His loyalty ran deep, his heart was wide open, and his infectious laugh and smile could brighten any room.
He had a magnetic personality. Strangers became friends within minutes of meeting him, drawn to his warmth, his big bear hugs, and his incredible ability to make everyone feel valued and important. To know Greg was to love him-and if he called you a friend, you had a friend for life.
Above all else, Greg loved being a father. His children-Zane, Grayson, Joanna, and Conner-were his greatest source of pride and joy.
Greg is survived by his children, Zane, Grayson, Joanna, and Conner; his parents, Cathy and Dan Columbia, and Jim and Jane Berry; his grandmother, Doris Dickinson; his sister, Jamie McGovern; his girlfriend, Jeri Austin; many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of friends who were lucky enough to call him family.
A celebration of Greg’s life will be held on Friday, June 20, at 1I:00 AM at First Baptist Church in Owasso. All are welcome to join in honoring a man who lived fully, gave generously, and loved deeply.
