H A CartmellHazel America Cartmell was born September 28, 1918, in Ozark, Arkansas, to Clint Pleasant and Sarah Ellen Slane Brown. She died Monday, December 18, 2017, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 99 years. Hazel was raised during a time when she helped her family on the farm. She spent much of her time picking cotton, beans, and doing the day to day chores that working on a farm requires. She had worked at one time at the Dodgen Turkey Plant, today known as butterball. She was a longtime faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church in Ozark. She also spent time throughout her life as a homemaker and caring for her family.

Those she leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
Daughter; Doris Conner, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Granddaughter; Ann Berryhill and husband Richard, of Kiefer, Oklahoma
Great grandson; Chad Berryhill and wife Erin, of Terlton, Oklahoma
Great granddaughter; Lee Anna Barker and husband Heath, of Satanta, Kansas
Three great great grandsons; Halton Barker, Elias Berryhill, and Ryker Berryhill
And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Fuller Halmes, second husband, James Cartmell, five brothers, and two sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 Thursday, December 21, 2017, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Chaplain Andrew Smith officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
