Hollis Wayne Weatherl was born February 17, 1931, in Miller, Oklahoma, to Otis and Kathleen (Baker) Weatherl. He departed this life unexpectedly Saturday, November 2, 2013, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years and 258 days. He was the seventh born of twelve children and grew up on the family farm. Hollis served his country honorably with the United States Army and was stationed in Korea. He met the love of his life, Anne Raedell Fillmore the summer of 1958. They were married August 8, 1959, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Hollis worked at Douglas Aircraft until he was laid off in 1963. He started working at AmaxAluminum as a laborer in the shop at $1.57 an hour. He worked his way up through the ranks where his job took him to Loveland, Colorado, to open a plant as the branch manager. During this time his life changed forever when Lewis was born in August of 1967. He then was promoted to regional production manager for Amax, which took him from Colorado to Texas and back to Oklahoma. In 1973, he left Amax and he purchased A-1 Fence Companyin Owasso. Hollis was a successful businessman until his retirement in 2002. Hollis was a lifetime member of the Owasso VFW Post #7180 and was also a 32nd DegreeMason. Retirement was an easy adjustment for him spending his time gardening, fishing, hunting, taking care of others, and being around animals of all kinds. He was loved by all, young and old. He was a gentle man of great integrity, fiercely dedicated and loyal to his family. He had the ability to make everyone feel as if they were “his favorite”. He was a great cook and loved to cook for all. His passing leaves us with a huge hole in our hearts but a lifetime of memories.

Cliff and Bobbie Weatherl, William “Bill” Weatherl, Huey and Mary Weatherl, Lucille Weatherl, Martha Weatherl, Don Marical, and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anita Schultz and her husband Bill, Ella Marical, Cora Melton and her husband Charles, brothers Bruce Weatherl, and A J Weatherl and his wife June.

Funeral services will be held 2:00, Friday, November 8, 2013, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with funeral celebrants Steven Weatherl, Mike Weatherl, and Dr. Marla Weatherl McGee. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Tulsa S.P.C.A., 2910 Mohawk Boulevard, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74110. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
