James Allen Stotts, 85, of Owasso, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by his family. James was born September 23, 1938, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at home to George Allen Stotts and Rose Mary (Haas) Stotts.
James grew up in Tulsa and attended Central High School. He was introduced to Gay Fielding at a friend’s party. They dated for eight months prior to their marriage on June 16, 1956. Their daughter, Gay Lynn Stotts, was born one year later on their first anniversary, which was James’ first Father’s Day. Three and a half years later, their daughter Jamie Alene Stotts was born.
James was employed by Shannon’s Furniture as a deliveryman. A few years later he changed careers and became a carpenter, trimming houses and building cabinets. Soon after, he joined the Union and became a journeyman. He was employed by Dyer Millwork and became a master carpenter making custom furniture.
In the mid-60’s, James dedicated his life to living for the Lord. He led song service and taught Sunday School at Turley Pentecostal Evangelistic Center. In May of 1976, James began pastoring Fellowship Tabernacle in Catoosa, Oklahoma. He pastored both churches for a time. He and Gay attended Rhema Bible Training Center, graduating in 1978. James went on to pastor Fellowship Tabernacle for over 44 years where countless people were brought to know and love Jesus Christ.
In his pastime, James enjoyed spending time with all of his kids. He also enjoyed working outside in the yard and poured much of his life into the maintenance of the church. The grandkids all remember being taken on rides on the lawnmower and having their toes popped by the best Papa.
James was a dedicated husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and dearly loved his family. James spoke often of his love for God and his family and how blessed he was to have such a wonderful family.
