Kelly Scott Walker was born December 4, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Randall Scott Walker and Linda Sherran Goines. He died Friday, May 16, 2025 in Skiatook, Oklahoma, at the age of 59 years. Kelly completed his secondary education in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1984. He spent most of his working life as a crew chief with American Airlines in Tulsa.
In his younger years, Kelly raced cross-country with the motorcycle groups OCCRA and Black Jack associations. After his daughter Lindsey was out of diapers, he taught her to race and travelled all over the country with her to compete. He and Lindsey enjoyed racing together until she began to outrace him, then he retired. Kelly was very proud of Lindsey’s accomplishments both on the tracks as well as off.
Kelly was an avid hunter including deer, hogs, dove, and waterfowl. He was a member of B.A.S.S. and the Oklahoma Crappie Anglers Club. He was a tournament fisherman but had traded that hobby in after his silent partner Stella (his miniature schnauzer dog) died unexpectedly. He took up a love for off-roading. He and JoAnna, the love of his life, travelled around to explore different offroad trails in numerous states and close to home as well, whether by RZR or Jeep. He was a member of Jeepers of Owasso and Jeepers Anonymous.
Kelly was co-founder of Healing the Heroes Organization, a foundation that partnered with area companies and volunteers to provide an expense paid weekend of hunting and fishing for wounded veterans. The event was held each year during Labor Day Weekend.
Kelly enjoyed his big orange tractor and was always quick to go help a friend with a garden, or driveway, or just dirt work. Any excuse to use that tractor and justify the purchase of new attachments or implements. Kelly was an avid gun enthusiast. He was a member of Red Castle Gun Club, USSAA, and enjoyed the indoor range at Medlock’s.
Kelly was relearning to weld and had a whole line of projects on his list to tackle once he remastered the skill. He enjoyed travelling and had an off-roading trip to Colorado mountains set for July and his first cruise to the Bahamas planned for this fall. Kelly’s favorite hobby of all was doing lawn maintenance for his mother. He took care of his mother as any good son should.
Those he leaves behind who hold a lifetime of memories include his daughter, Lindsey Walker, of Sperry, wife-partner, JoAnna Knight of the home, mother, Linda Johnson, of Owasso, father and stepmother, Randy and Pam Walker, of Owasso, stepchildren, Leah Knight of Tulsa, Roland Knight and wife Christina, of Jenks, and grandchildren, Liam, Raleigh, Jack, Violet, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Phyllis and Kenneth Lavendusky, maternal grandparents, Lula and Carl Goines, stepfather, BJ Johnson, stepbrother, Eddie Myers, uncle, Bobby Lavendusky, and his beloved dog, Stella.
A celebration of Kelly’s life will be held Saturday, May 31, 2025, beginning at noon at the family residence, 2732 East 126th Street North, Skiatook, Oklahoma. Please join the family for an old-fashioned picnic style lunch.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
