From Owasso Public Schools:

Congratulations to our Teacher of the Year, Mr. Kyle Sprague!

Mr. Sprague was inspired to become a teacher by his Uncle Mark, who taught children in Africa and tutored him during a difficult time in his school career. He began his teaching career at Hayward Smith Elementary in 2005, first interning with Mrs. Muse in 3rd grade and then teaching 5th grade. He has taught a variety of subjects, but says he found his niche in teaching math.

Mr. Sprague grew up in Bartlesville and attended Northeastern State University. He has been married to his high school sweetheart, Stacy, for 10 years and they have two children: Tyler and Kaylee.

He loves to be outdoors and his hobbies reflect that. He enjoys hunting, fishing, and camping, and has also been known to go noodling! The newest and scariest thing he’s done is the noodling…putting your arm down an underwater hole when you can’t see what’s in there; is it a turtle, a snake, or a fish? (“Please be a fish!”) Waiting for the fish to bite your hand so you can pull it out of the water…incredible!

You can also find Mr. Sprague out searching for arrowheads and other artifacts. His favorite find? A spear point at Calf Creek.

A former skateboarder, he still gets on the board with his kids once in a while and, according to them, he’s still got some tricks!

Always learning, he brings wonderful life experiences to the classroom.
