L RubinoLeRoy Louis “Lee” Rubino, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Monday, July 4, 2016 in Tulsa at the age of 73 years. Lee was born April 22, 1943 in Latrobe, PA to LeRoy Louis and Mary Jane (Decker) Rubino. He was raised and received his education in western Pennsylvania, graduating from Derry Area high school in Derry, PA. Lee enlisted in the US Air Force on February 28, 1962. On May 4, 1963, Lee and Karen Blumgren were united in marriage in Columbus, Ohio. To this union, three children were born. During his time with the Air Force, he was stationed in Columbus, Ohio; Dover, Delaware and at McGuire AFB in New Jersey. Lee also flew missions in Vietnam while stationed in Taiwan, later returning to McGuire where he was stationed until retirement. LeRoy Rubino served his country honorably for 21 years and retired as a Master Sergeant. Lee and his family moved to Oklahoma in the mid 1980’s. In his spare time, Lee enjoyed woodworking, having even made crib-size bunk beds for his great grandchildren. Lee in his earlier years enjoyed bicycling and auto cross racing. Lee was raised in the Methodist faith.

Survivors include his wife: Karen of the home; children – Tamara Perry and husband Russell of Turley, OK, Stephen Rubino of Owasso and Heather Marfell and husband Matthew of Streetman, Texas. Also surviving is his mother – Mary Jane Rubino of Derry, PA; a brother Walter Rubino of Latrobe, PA and his sister Jacqueline Schall and husband Jacob of Derry, PA; nine grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Lee was preceded in death by his father LeRoy and a brother Terry.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8:30 pm on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Mowery Funeral Service. Funeral services with full military honors will be on Saturday, July 9, 2016 in the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel at 11:00 AM. In accordance with Lee’s wishes, cremation will take place after the services. Those that would like to honor Lee can do so by donating to either the Owasso VFW #7180 or to the American Cancer Society.
