Lloyd E. Matthews, Jr., died peacefully surrounded by his family Friday, August 23, 2013, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. He was born August 9, 1925, in Muskogee, Oklahoma, to Lloyd E. Sr., and Eula (Stewart) Matthews. He was reared and received his education in Muskogee. Lloyd began his career in the automotive business in Muskogee. He moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 1953, where he continued in the automobile industry until his retirement as General Manager from Joe Marina Motors in 1989. Lloyd was married April 19, 1974, in Tulsa, to Shirley Tippit. He was a faithful member of Garnett Assembly of God in Tulsa, then later First Assembly of God in Owasso, Oklahoma. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including RV travel. His greatest passion was praising God through Gospel Quartet singing and sang with several quartets in the Tulsa area. His family will forever miss his loving and guiding hands.

Megan Goodman and husband Adam, of Sand Springs, Oklahoma
Rachel Ellis and husband Brady, of Skiatook, Oklahoma
Four great grandchildren;
Isaac Grill, Nadine Grill, Chloe Goodman, and Bailey Goodman
Brother; Jack Matthews, of Tulsa
Sister; Jane King, and husband Sam, of Booneville, Arkansas
Their sweet little dog, Lola
And a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and precious granddaughter, Emily Sullivan.

 
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Ed Dugan officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tulsa. The family requests memorial contributions are made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2448 East 81st Street, Suite 3000, Tulsa, Oklahoma, 74137. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
