Melinda Gale Smith was born on April 25, 1952, in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Reverend Don Dorsey and Norma Jean (Beaver) Dorsey. She passed from this life on Sunday, April 20, 2025, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma at the
age of 72 years.
Melinda was raised and educated in Truman, Arkansas where she graduated from Truman High School. She then went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in education from Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri. Melinda spent most of her working life as an Elementary School Teacher at Barnes Elementary and Mills Elementary
with Owasso Public Schools.
She was a longtime faithful member of Owasso First Assembly of God Church, as well as resident host to Bryan and Marks youth group freinds. In her spare time, Melinda enjoyed a variety of past times such as spending time with her grandkids, weaving baskets behind home plate, playing dominoes, playing cards, supporting anything related to Owasso education, and crafting diamond dots with her girls.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Norma Jean Dorsey, son, Mark Smith, and her aunt, Eldean “Dede” Thurman.
