Norma Lee Gerber was born August 17, 1931, in Sycamore, Kansas, to Percy Phillip Jones and Mabel Irene Elrod Jones. She died Wednesday, May 28, 2025, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. Norma was reared and educated in Neodesha, Kansas, and was a graduate of Neodesha High School. She continued her education at Wesley Nursing School in Wichita, Kansas, which would begin a longtime professional career in nursing.
Norma was married January 15, 1955, in Wichita, Kansas, to Daniel M. Gerber. She worked at Claremore Indian Hospital before working over 20 years at Collinsville Hospital. She was a strong woman of faith who attended St. Therese Catholic Church in Collinsville for over 30 years, then St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso for over 20 years. Norma was also a member of the Nurses Honor Guard and the Home Extension Club.
Norma enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially working with her hands. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and embroidering. She shared these talents and even taught sewing. She also worked in her vegetable garden, which led to canning. Norma was an amazing cook and made great cookies, as well as garlic mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and sweet pickles. Trips to Sonic with the grandkids were a special treat for all of them. Taking trips to go swimming was also a fun time for her. Most importantly, Norma dearly loved her family, especially the grandkids, who affectionately knew her as “Grandma”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Dan Gerber.
Rosary prayer service will be held 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 1, 2025, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 2, 2025, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church with Father Josh Litwack officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Bradley Gerber, Steven Gerber, Jordan Gerber, Kevin Gerber, John Griffin, Christopher Burkes, and Ben Smith. Committal service and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. Norma will be honored for her nursing career by the Northeastern Oklahoma Nurse Honor Guard.
