ohpOn Friday, April 5, 2013 at 10:00 AM, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol in
conjunction with the University of Tulsa Engineering Department will
conduct a controlled vehicle crash at the OHP Burns Flat driving facility.

large_SymbolThe University of Tulsa Engineering Department uses over $100,000.00 in
instrumentation to measure the forces involved in a vehicle collision.

“This test will give state troopers a better understanding of the forces
generated inside of vehicles during a controlled T-Bone type collision. It
will allow OHP investigators to use their equipment to image data inside
the air bag control module and compare that information to instruments used
by engineers,” stated OHP’s State Crash Team Coordinator Captain Ronnie
Hampton.

The current OHP Academy class will be present to view the collision and
spend time interpreting the marks generated on the surface of the road
along with the deformation generated on each vehicle.
