Open Table Community Café, will open with a Pancake Breakfast Fundraiser, Saturday June 21st 8:00am-11:00am.
At 10:45am a winning raffle ticket will be drawn for a beautiful quilt by Debra Spincic. Tickets are $2 at the café. Join them to support their mission to help end hunger while creating community in Owasso!
What is a Community Cafe? It is a non-profit restaurant model that brings together all kinds of people in a warm and friendly dining atmosphere where everyone eats regardless of their ability to pay.
Menus may have suggested prices, but each person is encouraged to pay as they are able.
Some choose to pay more, some choose to pay less and some eat without cost because they have volunteered in the café or the community or have been given a meal voucher by a local agency.
A community café differs from a soup kitchen in that it is a dining place for everyone in the community who wants to eat good nutritious food. They believe in a “hand up, rather than a hand out” model where all are treated with dignity.
Therefore, every person has the opportunity to eat and to offer what resources they may have in return.
