PRESS RELEASE:
Constitution Week – September 17-23, 2013
The Owasso Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, will be celebrating Constitution
Week by attending a luncheon on Sept. 14, 2013, at the Trinity Baptist
Church. The proceeds from the luncheon will benefit the state DAR Veterans First Fund.
The Constitution of the United States was signed September 17, 1787 and 2013 is the 226th
year anniversary of this historic document. Constitution Week was signed into law by President
Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 2, 1955. The United States of America is a Republic under the Constitution, which is the oldest document still in active use that outlines the self-government of a people. DAR President General, Lynn Forney Young, says “Constitution Week is the perfect opportunity to read and study this great document which is the safeguard of our American liberties. We encourage all citizens across the country to take time this week to reflect on our
heritage of freedom and come together to ‘Celebrate America’!”
Anyone may attend the Constitution Week luncheon on September 14th. Please contact
Sue Roth, Regent, Owasso Chapter, msueroth@gmail.com for further information. Cost: $15.00.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a patriotic service organization that encourages education and historic preservation in communities across America.
