Owasso LEEDA

In March 2014, the Owasso Police Department began participating in the Federal Bureau of Investigations Law Enforcement Executive Development Association (FBI LEEDA), a supervisory training program designed to improve leadership capabilities within police agencies throughout the United States.  FBI LEEDA is composed of three separate week-long sections: the Supervisor Leadership Institute, the Command Leadership Institute and the Executive Leadership Institute.

The Owasso Police Department made this training opportunity available to our entire supervisory staff, ranging from patrol sergeants to the command level administrators.  In addition to the Owasso personnel, law enforcement officials from several other police agencies in Oklahoma, Missouri, Arkansas and Arizona traveled to Owasso to attend the training sessions over the last few months.  The FBI LEEDA instructors included law enforcement executives from North Carolina, Massachusetts and Washington.

On November 7th, the Executive Leadership Institute was completed in Owasso, earning the participants the FBI LEEDA Trilogy Certification.  With the completion of the program, the Owasso Police Department has ensured that the supervisory staff at all levels of the agency received consistent leadership training with the hopes of improving the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the department to better serve the citizens of community.
