4-5 grade award presentation

An Owasso student is the winner of this year’s 4 – 5 grade Don’t Bug Me poster contest.

Stone Canyon Elementary fifth grader, Leah Burns, was awarded an iPad, Best Buy gift card and a framed copy of her winning poster this morning during a school assembly.

The awards were presented by representatives of Hillcrest HealthCare System and the Tulsa Health Department. School officials helped Leah’s parents sneak in for the surprise award presentation. Leah’s school was also awarded a $500 check. The 1 – 3 grade contest winner will be awarded later this month.

This is the thirteenth year that the Tulsa Health Department and Hillcrest HealthCare System have joined together to educate Tulsa metro students on ways to stay healthy by protecting themselves from the flu and other communicable diseases.

Don’t Bug Me is a fun campaign designed to equip elementary students with the tools to keep the spread of the germs at a minimum.
