01/31/2017 Today, the New York Yankees announced they have invited former Owasso shortstop Pete Kozma, as well as 23 other minor league player to major league spring training as  non-roster players.

Some of the Yankees’ top prospects and a few veterans are among the club’s 23 non-roster invitees for spring training, the team announced Tuesday.

Of the 23 players invited to join the Yankees’ 40-man roster at spring training, 11 are on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre roster: Frazier, pitcher Daniel Camarena, first baseman Ji-Man Choi, pitcher Jason Gurka, shortstop Pete Kozma, pitcher Brady Lail, pitcher Jordan Montgomery, pitcher Nick Rumbelow, catcher Jorge Saez, third baseman Donovan Solano and shortstop Ruben Tejada. Choi, Gurka, Kozma, Solano and Tejada all signed minor-league deals with an invitation to the major league camp this off season, and were assigned to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, while Camarena, Frazier, Lail and Montgomery all played big roles in the RailRiders’ run to International League and Triple-A National Championship crowns. Kozma did, however, spend 2016 with the RailRiders, batting .209 in 30 games with the RailRiders.

Kozma broke spring training with the Yankees last year, but was the last cut before the season as he was edged out for the final roster spot by Ronald Torreyes.
