Peggy Joyce Cooper was born May 6, 1936, in Okemah, Oklahoma, to Mark Eugene Hixson and Myrtle Aretha Hutson Hixson. She died Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 88 years. Peggy was reared and educated in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1954. She was married July 22, 1955, in Sperry, Oklahoma, to Elmer Lawrence Cooper.
Peggy spent most of her professional career as postal service clerk with the United States Postal Service retiring in 1993. Peggy was a strong woman of faith and attended Trinity Holiness Assembly of God. She enjoyed gospel music and gospel singings, as well as playing the piano and singing. Peggy was an excellent cook and enjoyed time spent traveling. She dearly loved her family, especially the grandkids who affectionately knew her as “Grandma”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Elmer Cooper, and brother, Mark Hixson.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2025, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at Trinity Holiness Assembly of God in Owasso with Pastor Weston Baker and Pastor Mike Shepherd officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso.
