Citizens question Councelor’s Ross and Brown about
their votes after Tuesday nights city council meeting.
Anyone who knows me knows that I hate politics. At least the politics of politics. Tonight’s Owasso City Council meeting reinforced my thoughts. This is why you do not see political debate on the Owassoisms page.
Mayor Bonebrake was absent from tonight’s city council meeting, which left four councilors making decisions for our city.
The entire agenda for tonight’s meeting can be found by clicking here.
Notable items on the agenda were:

Consideration and appropriate action relating to the approval of the final plat, Maple Glen III located east of the existing Maple Glen development located approximately ½ mile north of E 106 St N on N Garnett Rd on the east side of the road.

Bronce Stephenson presented the information to the council and recommended approval.

Councilor Brown questioned Mr. Stephenson on who was building Maple Glen III, and Mr. Stephenson informed him Owasso Land Trust.

Councilors Moberly and Kelly voted for approval. Councilors Ross and Brown voted against. . Councilor Brown stated that he could not vote yes on any motion that involved Owasso Land Trust because of their dealings with City Manager Rodney Ray on a personal retail business rent invoice not involving the city.

Next up: Consideration and appropriate action relating to the approval of the final plat for Small Animal Hospital of Owasso (SAHO), located north of Bank of the Lakes and Compadres restaurant on E 86th St N at N 125th E Ave

Bronce Stephenson presented the information to the council and recommended approval.

Attachment #10

As this is a personal business involving City Councilor Kelly, he left the room during discussion. Councilor Brown asked a couple questions regarding road access. Councilor Moberly made a motion to approve, but could not get a second from either Ross or Brown. Councilor Moberly then called their actions childish which received applause from the crowd. Councilor Brown then seconded the motion, which he and Ross voted against, no reason being given.

Final plat for the new Small Animal Hospital location in Owasso voted down by City Council. No reason given.

Next:

Consideration and appropriate action relating to the approval of the final plat, Saimilan Subdivision (Super 8 Hotel), located along E 76th St N between the US-169 Service Road and N 117th E Ave

Again Moberly and Kelly voted for approval, Ross and Brown voted against, no reason being given for the no vote.

Citizens in the crowd stunned by the moves, asked to speak after votes, but were denied due to protocol. They gathered after the meeting ended speaking to councilors asking for answers……….
