School is out and summer is here! What are your kids doing? One safe, fun and affordable solution to summer child care is the Owasso Family YMCA Summer Day Camp. Camp starts Monday, June 2, and runs through Wednesday, August 13, with drop off 7:00 – 9:00 a.m. and pickup 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Camp kids participate in sports, games, swimming, science projects, arts and crafts, literacy, environmental education and more! Once a week, each age group heads to the Westside YMCA, a 28-acre nature reserve located on Turkey Mountain in west Tulsa. Y members pay just $140 a week, plus a $10 activity fee, per child, per week; this is due upon registration. The weekly rate for non-members is $170. The Y is committed to providing quality programming to all, regardless of income. Financial aid for camp is available to those who qualify. The Owasso Family YMCA is also a DHS-licensed facility and accepts DHS childcare subsidies.
All camp staff are trained
in CPR, first aid and oxygen, and are taught to use positive discipline techniques and bullying prevention. “The Y is committed to youth development, and for us, that means giving Owasso kids the opportunity to exercise their bodies and their minds over the summer months,” said Caitlin Turner, camp director at the Owasso Family YMCA. Turner added, “Studies have shown that kids who have an active, stimulating summer do better in school the next year. Our goal is for all campers to come away with a sense of personal achievement and a desire to learn more about the world around them.”
The Owasso Family YMCA has a kid-friendly pool with a zero-depth entrance, an interactive water feature, and an indoor-outdoor water slide that provides fun for kids of all swimming abilities.
This summer, the Y is offering a household summer membership for just $275. This gives summer members full access to all eight Greater Tulsa YMCAs, free youth sports, and a discount on all Y programs, including camp.
