Virginia Rose SidesVirginia Rose Sides was born in La Harpe, Kansas, and went to be with the Lord at the age of 96, on November 19, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
She graduated from La Harpe High School in 1943. She attended Kansas City College & Bible School in Overland Park, Kansas for 2 years. She also attended University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas and Rogers State College, Claremore, Oklahoma.
She married Wilbur Sides on August 6, 1950, in Kansas City. In 1955, they moved to Owasso, where their first home was near 96th ST North and Garnett Road, near the Saw Grass subdivision. That home had “two rooms and a path.” An ironing board served as a dining table, and the path went to the outhouse.
She was a member of the Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene for 67 years. She was involved in mission education, church music and pianist, took mission trips to Trinidad and Papua New Guinea, as well as supporting others in their mission trips. She was a lifetime member of the Owasso Historical Society.
She retired from Tulsa Paving Company on June 30, 1986, after 13 years and then worked for H&R Block for 7 years.
She was very proud of and loved her large family of 4 children, 11 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great grandson on the way, and her 18 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Mary Etta Gregg Hammer and William Ira Hammer, husband: Wilbur Sides, 7 siblings: Emmett Hammer, Elda Strubhar, Esther Rader, Wilma Johnson, Willard Hammer, Charlotte Maddox, Baby Hammer; her children: Nancy Miller, Tommy Sides; grandchild: Paul Sides; great-grandchild: Natalie Miller.

Survived by her children: Don and Linda Sides of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Chris and Sonja Sides of Tulsa, OK, George and Jeannie Miller of Carnegie, OK; grandchildren: Gloria and Scott Nelson of Nevada, TX, Greg and Wendy Miller of Spencer, OK, Geoffrey and Churie Miller of Woodward, OK, Gary and Beth Miller of Norfork, AR, Julie and Philip Jones of Leesburg, TX, Melodie and Ben Booton of Spencer, OK, Seth Sides of Bethany, OK, Melissa and Adam Brooks of Tulsa, OK, Aaron Sides of Ft. Riley, KS, and Glenn Sides of Tulsa, OK; 24 great-grandchildren, and was excitedly awaiting the birth of her first great-great grandson to be born this week.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene, 9000 N 145th E Ave., Owasso, OK. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at Silver Creek Church of the Nazarene, 9000 N 145th E Ave., Owasso, OK.
