W B DavisWilliam Baxter “Bill” Davis III was born December 12, 1939, in Cushing, Oklahoma, to Harold Loyd and Norma Pauline Hough Davis. He died Thursday, April 13, 2017, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 77 years. Bill was reared and educated in Cushing, Oklahoma, before serving his country with the United States Navy on the USS Forrestal. Bill returned to Cushing where he worked at the Kerr McGee refinery before pursuing his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration at Oklahoma State University by day and working as a patrolman with the Cushing Police Department by night. Bill began his career in banking with the First National Bank in Bartlesville working his way to vice-president. He married Ute Moore in Tulsa Oklahoma on March 14, 1987, and the couple made their home in Collinsville. Bill fulfilled a life-long dream to be a private business owner with the purchase of Osage Gun and Pawn in Bartlesville. He continued to serve the public as a reserve police officer with the Bartlesville Police Department for over 30 years. Bill was a faithful member of St. Therese Catholic Church in Collinsville and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. Bill worked as a bailiff at the Tulsa County Courthouse and served as a volunteer at the Bailey Medical Center in Owasso. In addition to spending time with his family, Bill enjoyed a variety of pastimes including dancing, traveling, and antiquing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at St. Therese Catholic Church in Collinsville with Father Richard Christler officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Mark Calvert, Christopher Calvert, Tyler Moody, and Aidan Moore. Committal service and interment will follow at St. Therese Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
