Businesses Valuing Education (BVE) was founded in January 2013 by Akira Sushi Bar, Owassoisms, Youth Owasso and Shop Owasso First to provide Owasso K-12 educators with funding to help provide innovative learning opportunities for Owasso students. BVE funds school projects initiated by local educators and provides monthly awards for school improvement projects, guest speakers, equipment, curriculum and other enrichment opportunities across core curriculum.

Each month, Owasso educators are invited to submit requests for awards by completing a brief online form. Applications are reviewed by the BVE Steering Committee and awarded based on: feasibility, number of students impacted, desired outcome, and timeline.
A $500 award was presented on March 5, 2013 to Ator Elementary Computer Lab Instructor, Cinda Lewis. The grant will allow Mrs Lewis to replace worn and outdated headphones with new, microphone equipped headphones for typing, computer lab software, and test taking. The new headphones will give students an enhanced educational experience and allow them to complete classroom tasks more efficiently. The grant will impact more than 475 students at the elementary school.
