Charles BrownCharles Edward Brown, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Friday, September 12, 2014 in Tulsa at the age of 83 years. Charley was born Sept. 3, 1931 in Weleetka, OK to Thomas H. and Virgie (Rinicker) Brown. He was a graduate of the Weleetka class of 1949; later continuing his education and obtaining a Bachelor degree in Business from East Central University in Ada, OK and a Juris Doctor in Law from Oklahoma City University. Charley was a veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged in October of 1954. Following his military service, he had the opportunity to join Farmers Insurance Group, retiring after 32 years as a branch claim manager in San Antonio, TX. In January 1951, Charley was united in marriage to Patsy Park. To this union three children were born. Patsy preceded him in death in May of 1974. On Oct. 4, 1976, Charley married Geraldine “Jerry” Brown. She also preceded him in death in April of 2012. On May 4, 2013, Charley married Nancy (Hamilton) Holt in Owasso. Charley had made his home in Owasso for the past eleven years. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church; was an avid reader; enjoyed volunteering at “The Mission” and other charitable organizations; and watching and feeding the birds. Charley was a kind, generous man, a loving father, grandfather and husband and a loyal friend. He will be greatly missed.

Those that survive include his wife Nancy of the home; children Kris Ford and husband John of Austin, TX, Brenda Mitchell (Rob) of Broken Arrow, Lynn Boergerman (Gary) of Catoosa, Candy Marple (Steve) of Broken Arrow, Dawn Snyder of Tulsa and Mike Brown (Carolyn) of Edmond, OK, Laura Holt of Owasso and Andy Holt (Katie) two sisters Virginia Sue Broach (Clayton) of Tulsa and Ruth Ann Baumgarner of Okmulgee. Also surviving are 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Besides his wives, Charley was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Karen and brothers Thomas, James Billie and Kenneth Brown.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Private family burial will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, OK. Arrangements and services are entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
