Clarence "Barton" CarterClarence “Barton” Carter was born on January 17, 1929, in Temple, Texas to
Waldo Clarence Carter and Myrtie Octavia (Fellers) Carter. He passed from this life on Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Collinsville, Oklahoma at the age of 93 years. Barton was raised and educated in Moody, Texas and graduated with the Moody High School Class of 1945. He was married on May 16, 1946, in Comanche, Texas to Harriett Ann (Taylor) Carter. Barton graduated with the Class of 1970 from Baptist Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. He then went on to earn his Doctorate from Louisiana Baptist University and Theology Seminary. Barton spent most of his working life as a missionary and served in numerous cities and villages such as a village in the Philippines and serving the Navajo Nation in New Mexico and Arizona. He was a faithful member of Eastland Baptist Church in Tulsa and had made that his home church for over 50 years. Barton enjoyed a variety of hobbies such as hunting, fishing, reading, photography, and flying his own airplane.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Waldo and Myrtie, and his son, Michael.

Visitation will be held 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 19, 2022, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Eastland Baptist Church in Tulsa with Pastor Dave Hardy officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in Barton’s memory to Eastland Baptist Church Missionary Fund, 1835 S. 129th E. Ave, Tulsa, OK 74108.
