Eugene M. Gene EnglandEugene Martin “Gene” England was born September 26, 1927, in Pharr, Texas, to Edward Ray England and Goldie Mae French England. He died Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Gene completed his secondary education in Pharr, Texas, and was a graduate of Pharr High School. For a time, Gene worked a grocery store in Chicago before entering the United States Merchant Marines, then later transitioning to the United States Navy. After his honorable discharge, Gene owned and operated his own gas station, then became a hairdresser. Gene established and owned Aloha Flowers in Tulsa, then established Aloha Systems which did commercial landscaping and maintenance. He was married August 15, 1980, in Bixby, Oklahoma, to Shirley L. Freeman. Gene was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Owasso. In his younger years, Gene was active with several dog clubs, but later in life he enjoyed boating and traveling. He enjoyed being outdoors fulfilling his interest in plants and landscaping. He was an avid reader and dearly loved his country.

He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Michael Phillips, brothers, Harold England,
Ray England, and Cecil England, and sister, Marie Baker.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating, along with special memories from Matthew Phillips and Jeff England. Final resting place will be at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Owasso. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Gene’s memory to the Owasso Baptist Home for Children, 12700 East 76th Street North, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
