You expect firemen to serve the community in emergency-related ways, but two talented firefighters—brothers Chris and Robin Sorensen—have been serving up delicious subs since 1994. Originating in Jacksonville, Fla., Firehouse Subs quickly spread across the country and is now an international franchise.

Not just another sandwich shop, Firehouse Subs serves 66,000,000 sub rolls and 7,750,000 pounds of turkey annually! The menu features 10 specialty subs, many with firehouse-themed names. Their unique steaming process yields delicious meats and cheeses with a unique flavor profile, all piled high and served piping hot on a toasted sub roll. Other options include the “Under 500 Calories” menu – six sandwiches and four salads all available for 500 calories or less, along with kids’ meals complete with a fire hat. And don’t forget the drinks—all Firehouse Subs restaurants feature Coca-Cola Freestyle machines, which can create over 120 beverage combinations.

All of these aspects combined bring customers back time and time again. And the franchise has finally made its way to Owasso. Co-owners Brandon Birdwell and Josh Fields, a former OSU quarterback and professional baseball player, own four Firehouse Subs restaurants across Texas and Oklahoma. Along with Jeff Engle, the duo decided to add the Owasso location to their growing chain.

District Manager Amanda Miller says the owners decided to open in Owasso for its growth opportunities, but also its close-knit community. “Owasso is a growing community but it still maintains that small town feel. Everyone is your neighbor,” Miller said.

When customers eat at Firehouse Subs, they can feel good knowing not only are they getting delicious food, but they are also supporting the company’s nonprofit, Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. The Foundation has provided $15 million nationwide in life-saving equipment to first responders. Of that number, more than $294,000 has gone to public safety organizations in Oklahoma.

Owasso residents will automatically feel at home in the new restaurant, featuring Owasso Fire Dept. “in-action” photos on the walls, along with Owasso Fire gear decor. Die-hard Rams fans will appreciate a mural of the Owasso Ram mascot with an Owasso Fire truck. Not just touting the look of honoring first responders, Owasso Firehouse Subs will provide free 32 oz. drinks to all first responders including all military. And the location will soon begin participating in fundraising events for the community.

Firehouse Subs is located at 9538 N. Garnett Rd. Hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
