George Albert HorstmanGeorge Albert Horstman was born November 13, 1938, in Golden, Missouri, to Albert John Horstman and Lula Louise Duke Horstman. He died Saturday, June 18, 2022, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 83 years. As a young boy, George attended elementary school at Moore Schools in Arkansas, walking one and a half miles each way. He attended junior high and senior high school in Berryville, Arkansas, before moving to Salem Oregon in 1955 where he graduated high school.
George started his working career in coal mining, then was self employed cutting wood for several years as well as mining other minerals and pipe lining. He then began working for the Oklahoma Department of Corrections as a prison guard from which he retired.
He was a strong man of faith, becoming a Christian as a teenager while living in Arkansas with his family. His family attended church throughout his childhood. Most of his adult life he attended Muse Assembly of God, where he and his wife raised their children. In later life attended various churches, including Rejoice Church in Owasso. He enjoyed spending time with his family. They took many trips camping, vacationed all over the United States visiting national parks, historical sites, museums, amusement parks, zoos, and other activities the family enjoyed. He also loved attending Southern Gospel concerts. The family continued these activities and family gatherings throughout his life even when the children became adults. His desired legacy is that all his family prepare for Heaven, stating this was worth more than all of Earth’s gold.
