11341 North Garnett Road George Allen Tumleson was born May 16, 1932, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Oscar Darwin and Ollie Owens Tumleson. He died Wednesday, March 11, 2020, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at home, at the age of 87. George was a lifetime resident of Owasso, where he graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1950. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Korean War while stationed in Germany. He was married April 9, 1952, in Owasso, Oklahoma, to Judy Fry. George spent over 20 years as a firefighter and retired as a captain with the Tulsa Fire Department. He also ran Fry & Tumleson Trenching, with his brother-in-law, Clyde Fry. In his early years he enjoyed restoring classic cars. After selling his cars, his new passion began, which was horses and mules. He passed his love of horses to his children and grandchildren. He took many memorable vacations and went on numerous trail rides across the United States and Mexico with his family and friends. He enjoyed a game of cards, especially with his grandchildren, who affectionately knew him as Grandpa and Poppy.

Grandchildren: Heather Knott, Ashley Farley, Dustin Tumleson, Callie Tumleson, Joshua Williams and Kendall Williams Bagley
Nine great grandchildren: Kelsey, Kash, Brooklynn, Ryleigh, Gunner, Gentry, Rhemi, Harper, Rhidlee
Two great-great grandchildren: Kale and Kaycen
Sister: Norma Bennett, of Lawton, Oklahoma

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Charles Tumleson, and two sisters, Sandra Tumleson and Louise Tumleson
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 16, 2020, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 17, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Wes Fry, Jeff Fry, Travis Fry, Keith Fry, Gary Joe Fry, and Kash Knott. Final resting place will be at Green Acres Memorial Gardens in rural Owasso.
