Spread the love

J.R. Morrow

Preston Howard Morrow, lovingly known as Jr passed away on Monday, February 3, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 60.

Born on April 16, 1959 in Springdale, Arkansas to Preston Howard Morrow and Edythe Mary (Harger) Morrow.

After spending most of his childhood in Arkansas, Oklahoma and Mississippi, Jr settled in Bella Vista, Ar to raise his family and spent most of his adult life there.

Never one to sit for long, Jr worked as a welder, contractor & painter, ultimately retiring after many years as owner and manager of Jr’s Painting.

On August 30, 1980 (Labor Day weekend) Jr married the love of his life Lynn Darlene (Bastian) Morrow, in Caney, Ks. Many laughs were shared over the years; using a moving holiday as an anniversary marker meant he got the date right every few years, until his children were old enough to help with reminders.

Being a father was his proudest accomplishment, his daughters were his pride and joy. Nothing made Jr happier than spending time with his girls. Spending time traveling, fishing, or just sitting together was always the highlight of his day. Always willing to do anything for his girls with a smile, even if it meant wearing a silly Christmas pajama onesie.

Jr loved being a father but being a Papa was even more rewarding. He loved spoiling his granddaughters, building sandboxes, buying gifts, fishing and exploring all made his heart beam.

Sophia Loren once said, “The most indispensable ingredient of all good home cooking: love for those you are cooking for.” Jr embodied this quote; his love language was cooking for others. He cooked for family, friends, neighbors and strangers, he would feed everyone. Jr didn’t know how to cook for two, he always cooked for an army. Once everyone had a full belly, he had a full heart.

Hunting and fishing were also pastimes Jr enjoyed (probably because they combine two of his favorite things, food & fellowship with friends).

Jr loved art and often could be caught drawing or doodling. One of the most beautiful examples of his artistic side can be seen in his stained-glass creations many of which were given as presents to friends and donated for charity auctions.

Jr is survived by his wife Lynn Morrow, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, daughters Dena Henry and husband Kevin, of Rogers, Arkansas and Sara Yore and husband Dan, of Rogers, Arkansas; granddaughters Savannah Yore and Brynlee Henry; 3 Sisters Minnie Romero and husband Mark, of Owasso, Jackie Collins and Tom Adams, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma, Thelma Testerman and husband Richard, of Platter, Oklahoma as well as many nieces and nephews and countless friends he counted as family. All of these he loved and touched deeply .

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Marie Land.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 3:00 Saturday, February 29, 2020 at Spring Valley Rod and Gun Club; 23525 Lin Z Way, Gravette, Arkansas 72736.
