James “Jim” Thomas Shepherd was born on February 18, 1935, in Newberry, Michigan to Louis Herman Shepherd and Dora Mae (Middleton) Shepherd. He passed from this life on Saturday, June 1, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years. Jim was raised and educated in Newberry through elementary school and then moved to Collinsville, Oklahoma where he finished his education. He enlisted and served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps and served 20 years before retiring as First Sargent. Jim was married on April 8, 1955, in Collinsville to Doris Laverne (McAlvain) Shepherd. Jim worked at PSO for 20 years and retired as Plant Operator. In his spare time, he enjoyed a variety of past times such as woodworking, raising Quarter Horses, drawing, and painting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Dora, and four brothers, Louis, Gene, Jerry, and Clyde.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel. Graveside and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville
