Joan Arlene BryantJoan Arlene Bennett Bryant was born October 1, 1940, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to John Noel Bennett and Annie Pauline Butt Bennett. She died Friday, April 21, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 82 years. Arlene completed her secondary education in McAlester, Oklahoma, and was a graduate of McAlester High School. She continued her education attending Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Oklahoma. In 1962 she graduated from Paul’s Beauty College in Oklahoma City. Arlene was married March 17, 1962, in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Byron Hugh Bryant. They returned to Oklahoma City where Arlene began a long career as a cosmetologist. She added to her professional career working as a landman alongside her husband and forming Bryant and Bryant, Inc. They had made their home in Owasso, Oklahoma, since 2004. She was a faithful member of Freedom Church in Owasso. Arlene enjoyed a variety of pastimes including bowling with competitive teams in her younger years. She enjoyed both performing and listening to Gospel music. Living in many locations in nine states Arlene and Hugh sang together in dozens of Churches and in numerous revival meetings. She greatly enjoyed putting together floral arrangements. She was an avid doll collector as well as collecting angels. She was especially fond of her role as “Grandma” to her grandchildren. She never met a person that she didn’t love. She hated to see someone left out.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, Steven Bryant
 
Funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday, April 30, 2023, at Freedom Church in Owasso with Pastor Andrew Ranking officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Arlene’s memory to Good Works Now, 9602 North 177th East Avenue, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
