StromJohn Lewis Strom, Jr, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Clarehouse in Tulsa at the age of 70 years. John was born April 24, 1945, in Cocoa Beach, Florida, to John Lewis and Ethel Bertha (Clark) Strom. He was raised and received his education in Richland, Missouri, graduating from Richland High School. Following high school, John enlisted in the US Air Force, later retiring after 26 years of military service and having been stationed in Japan, Korea, Thailand, Germany, the Philippines and Okinawa. On June 17, 1973, he was united in marriage to Sylvia Nix in Greeley, Colorado. To this union two children were born. At the time of his release from the Air Force, they were stationed at Luke AFB in Phoenix, Arizona. In 1991, they moved to Owasso and John went to work for American Airlines as an avionics technician, retiring in March of 2013. John was a member of the Volkswagon Club of Tulsa, he enjoyed designing tools to be used on the job at American Airlines, and he enjoyed photography.

Those that survive include his wife of 42 years, Sylvia of the home; children Jennifer Michelle Halleman and husband Michael of Peoria, Arizona, and Michael Allan Strom of Owasso; and two grandchildren Caitlyn Dakota Pryor and Nathan Michael Halleman. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be Sunday, October 4, 2015, from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and services will be Monday, October 5, at 11:00 a.m., both at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Bishop Q.L. Bell of Grace Hospice will officiate the service. Military honors will be accorded John by the United States Air Force.
