“I’ve been extremely frustrated with the social and racial issues/tension that has been going on in this country lately, not to mention political (no comment). There have been many times that I’ve been tempted to “state my opinion” on Facebook but have decided against it in most cases. I think opinions have a tendency to do more harm than good the majority of the time, no matter how sincere the intent is. Love is the ONLY thing that will bring Unity to this country.
I have recently become encouraged and inspired thru scripture to do something in hopes of bringing awareness that the vast majority of humanity is indeed good. Not racist, not full of hate, not ignorant… like the media all too often tries to portray us as. This country that I love is FULL of outstanding people. People that will gladly extend a hand in friendship regardless of the color, nationality, or religious views of the person standing across from them. These people need to be reported more… shared more.
So here is what I am going to do. On Saturday Oct. 22nd from 10-3 I am going to set up a tent or two in the parking lot of my office and simply cook hot dogs and hamburgers for anyone that cares to stop by and fellowship. If I run out of food I’ll go get more. I plan to have a bounce house for kids as well. Absolutely anyone is invited and appreciated but it is my sincere hope that the crowd is highly diverse.
This is NOT in any kind of way going to be a promo event for my business. I simply want to spread a message of love and unity among humanity. What would be awesome is if you could share this post. What would be even better than awesome is if you will jump on board and host your own cookout on the same day at the same time. Maybe you are a business owner like myself and can use the exposure you have, or maybe you just set up shop in your driveway in your neighborhood. I do have a dream with this idea and it’s that it spreads well beyond Owasso, OK. and into communities across the country.
