Lois Jean CunninghamLois Jean Cunningham was born August 11, 1941, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Sam and Helen Franz Jost. She died Saturday, February 22, 2020, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years. Jean was reared and educated in Owasso, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Owasso High School Class of 1959. She was married December 19, 1958, at the Westport Mennonite Brethren Church, now Discovery Bible Church, in Collinsville, Oklahoma, to Jerry Cunningham. She continued her education attending Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas. Jean did not begin working outside the home until her children were in school. She then began her 23-year career in banking with First Bank of Catoosa and Guaranty National Bank. She was faithful in her service to her church, serving over 30 years teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. She and Jerry attended Westport Mennonite Brethren Church before joining the congregation of First Baptist Church in Owasso. Jean enjoyed a variety of pastimes including spending time cooking, reading, and even fishing. She also was a caregiver to many widows and friends. She especially enjoyed her role of “Nanny” to her grandchildren.

Kaleb Cunningham and Kyden Cunningham, of Collinsville, Oklahoma
Karis Foster and husband Kevin, of Ashland, Kansas
Brother; Jerry Jost and wife Christine, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Two sisters; Patsy Spencer and husband Melvin, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Pam Bates and husband Michael, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma
She was preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Helen Jost.

 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 25, 2020, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, February 26, 2020, at First Baptist Church in Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Bart Taylor, Cameron Taylor, Matthew Cunningham, Michael Cunningham, Kaleb Cunningham, Kyden Cunningham, Christian Cormier, and Kevin Foster. Committal service and interment will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery in Collinsville, Oklahoma. The family requests memorial contributions be made to The Mission-FBC Owasso, 11341 North Garnett Road, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055.
