TCC Led Oklahoma in the Number of First-Time Students

Tulsa Community College welcomed 4,219 first-time freshman students in fall 2013 making TCC the leader in the state for attracting new freshman among all public colleges and universities in the state.

“TCC excels at the first two years of college because we focus on access, affordability and excellence,” said TCC President Tom McKeon. “In fact, we strongly believe we specialize in the first two years of a student’s college experience and make a significant difference in degree attainment.”

The first-time college enrollment number reflects 1,520 Tulsa Achieves students entering college in fall 2013.

The Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education published the Fall Enrollment Survey for Oklahoma Higher Education. The report on preliminary enrollment numbers also reflected that TCC was third in the state in total enrollment with 18,005 enrolled in fall 2013 following Oklahoma State University (Stillwater Campus) and University of Oklahoma (Norman Campus).

TCC also had the most high school students concurrently attending a public college or university in the state with 1,383 concurrent students.  Concurrent students are still enrolled in high school and attending college classes either at TCC or on their home high school campus and receiving college credit.  TCC is responsible for roughly 20 percent of all high school students enrolled in concurrent classes and roughly 20 percent of the total concurrent credit hours earned by high school students in Oklahoma.
