The Tulsa Regional Fly-In Celebrates Its 57thYear

September 21st at the Bartlesville Municipal Airport.

The event will run from around 8am-4:30pm

The Tulsa Regional Fly-In will reconvene at the Bartlesville Municipal Airport Saturday, September 21, 2013. This will mark the 57th year this annual family-oriented event has celebrated the life and times of the aviation-oriented people who fly privately-owned small personal airplanes and the advancement and design improvements that have taken place over the last 50 years.

The big news for the fly-in for 2013 will be a rare 1929 EAA-owned Ford Tri-Motor from Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The Ford Tri-Motor was the first all-metal airliner and Phillips Petroleum Company owned and flew a 1929 Tri-Motor during that era.The Tri-Motor airplane will be on the field and available for viewing and passenger flights from Thursday afternoon, September 19 through Sunday, September 22.

The fly-in planning committee is expecting 250-300 sport and recreational airplanes including antiques, experimentals, biplanes, and World War II, Korea and Vietnam era surplus military airplanes; all have been restored, refurbished and in some cases better than when they were new. All airplanes will be on display for the public to closely examine.

In addition to all the airplanes on display, classic and collector cars will be on hand along with food and beverage concessions and an exhibits building that includes a display of radio controlled airplanes. There is always a lot of flying activities and this will include contests for the pilots that will be fun to watch. A public address system and professional announcer will keep everyone well informed on all the many activities.

The public is encouraged to attend for a day of entertaining family fun. Admission is by donations; suggested $7 for adults, $3 for students, under 5 free. Free auto parking is available with trams to take the guests to the central fly-in activity.

MEDIA NOTICE, there will be rides in the Ford Tri-Motor on Wed. If you have not been contacted by the EAA Tri-Motor committee and would like to take a ride call either Charlie Harris at 918-622-8400 or Ross Adkins at 918-633-3288.

The fly-in is put on by members of the three local Tulsa area EAA Chapters. They are all volunteers and would appreciate any publicity you can provide us to keep it flying to Bartlesville for many years to come. Thanks, Ross Adkins EAA member #94706
