Wayne Lynn Wellhousen, 77 of Tulsa, Ok passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2015. Wayne had a passion for drag racing. When he was a teenager he loved to drag race with his friends. He had got so many tickets in just one night that when he went before the Judge, the Judge said to him “I am going to solve this problem for you”, and he cut up his driver’s license right there on the bench of the courts.
Wayne was a long standing member of the NHRA and he will be honored at the Tulsa Raceway on September 19, 2015, as the long standing World Champion of 1963, 66 and 69. Wayne loved his grandchildren. You could always find him doting on his granddaughters or in attendance of his grandson’s football games. Wayne was also an avid O.U. football fan.
Survived by his Daughter; Rhea and her husband Shawn Thornton of Owasso, Ok. Son Robert (Bobby) Wellhousen of Owasso, Ok. 1 Step-son; Robert Rankin and 1 Step-daughter Rebecca Rankin. 4 grandchildren Jacob Thornton of Owasso, OK, Madison Rankin of Nebraska, Lauren Rankin, Kimberly Rankin both of Turley, OK and Triston Rankin of Claremore, OK. 1 Sister: Betty George of Tulsa, OK. Along with 4 nephews: Jack, Johnny Mac, Jeff and Roger.
Services will be 6:30 pm Thursday, September 17, 2015,. at Dighton- Moore Funeral Chapel, 116 N Main St., Owasso, OK 74055.
