Peter Z. FriesenPeter Z. Friesen was born June 5, 1927, in Meade, Kansas, to Jacob and Katherina Classen Friesen. He died Saturday, April 3, 2021, in Talihina, Oklahoma, at the age of 93 years. Peter completed his secondary education in Meade, Kansas, and was a graduate of Meade Bible Academy. He continued his education at Grace Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1948. Peter was strong in his Christian faith and spent most of his working life as a missionary with Avant Ministries. He spent 40+ years doing missionary work in Morocco, North Africa. He was a longtime faithful member of Emmaus Mennonite Church in Whitewater, Kansas. He embodied the attribute of hospitality, He was always serving others whether through providing books and Bibles, or even driving those that needed a ride to and from the airport. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time reading and studying the Bible. He also loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren who affectionately knew him as “Opa”.

Those he leaves behind who hold many cherished memories include:
Two daughters; Winnona Brush and husband Ron, of Owasso, Oklahoma
Lynette Hinton and husband Geoffrey, of Talihina, Oklahoma
Grandchildren; Virgil Hinton and wife Cindy, of Vail, Arizona
Sarah Holler and husband Kevin, of Sperry, Oklahoma
Krista Beddo, of Boswell, Oklahoma
Rachel Unrau and husband Jerrod, of Inola, Oklahoma
Frank Hinton and wife Stephanie, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Elizabeth Greninger, of Sperry, Oklahoma
14 Great grandchildren
And many adopted spiritual grandchildren and great grandchildren
Brother; Ike Friesen and wife Viola, of Edinburg, Texas
And a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Elsie Marie Friesen, second wife Wilma Friesen, and son, Virgil Friesen.

Funeral service will be held 10:00 Thursday, April 8, 2021, at the Emmaus Mennonite Church in Whitewater, Kansas, with Pastor Timothy Mace officiating. Committal service and interment of cremains will follow at the Emmaus Mennonite Church Cemetery. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
